The Zenú Weaving Tour
A quilt of history and memory
Overview
Itinerary
Embarking on your journey at the Zenú Gold Museum in Cartagena’s walled city, you'll learn firsthand about gold, history, and ancient cultivation techniques directly from Zenú indigenous guides. Next, you’ll take private transportation to the Zenú workshop in the “20 de Julio” neighborhood, where a group of Zenú women from Cartagena reside.
There, you will meet local artisans responsible for creating masterpieces, including Colombia’s iconic symbol—the Sombrero Vueltiao. In their workshop, they will also teach you weaving techniques that have been preserved for over 3,000 years.
Our experiences at Cartagena Insider always include a donation to Femcolombia, a non-profit organization that has supported Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities in their fight for land rights for years.
